Week 3 of DFI
Kia Ora tatou and Welcome
This week at DFI we focussed on media and the create side of things within Manaiakalani. This week we also didn't have to go into the class we were all online learning, going to different people for different create task. This was an awesome session and I really enjoyed my day today as we were all engaged in this way of learning and I was on the other side of the call as in I was not the teacher, I was the learner and that was different. One of the create task I attended was Creating a Digital Pepeha, you will see in my slide deck below that I am a proud maori that enjoys returning back to my papa kainga any chance I get. Google Draw and Slides are going to be my best friend when it comes to creating learning work for my students.
DFI lately has been awesome and I am looking forward to more amazing classes of learning new things, so all in all so far so good.

Week 2 of DFI
Today in DFI we talked about Google Meets, Keeps, Gmail and Calendar. We had joined meets for part of our class learning today. Joining a meet with the Dorothy Burt who was in Christchurch doing more amazing things with Manaiakalani. We talked about the LEARN side of the pedagogy, 4 powerful words that we as teachers need to take into account and implement into our teachings. R.A.T.E - Recognise, Amplify, Turbocharge, Effective Practice. One other thing Dorothy asked us during her delivery today was "What does LEARN look like in your school?". Google Keep was another topic we looked at today, a lot of useful tips and tricks that we can use, Google Keep is a bit like Notes on a Iphone. We looked at Gmail and how we can clean up all our emails by putting them into set folders which is called labels in mail, and lastly we looked at Calendar, amazing things can be done with calendar from making your appointments to you inviting people to a google meet. Our last task we had to do today was to pair up and invite our buddy to our meet and talk about a blog post of our choice. Here is a video of our meet.

Day One of DFI
First day of DFI and it was an amazing and full of information day. First up we as the 2021 face to face cohort did our whakawhanaungatanga and shared who we are and where we are teaching, it was an amazing 25 minutes as each person were only allowed 60 seconds to share. We did really well and kept to time. We then learnt about the becoming and origin of Manaiakalani and how and when it was formed. Knowing and understanding the significance of Maui, Earth and the Hook. Our principles in our community had dreams and aspirations for the youth of their area, Manaiakalani was created to improve higher achievement for our low decile schools. Being collaborative and Innovative with teachings and learnings. When we started our Deep Dive session we were shown how to use most of the Google Docs functions and learning about using the styles, voice typing and explore tool to make your doc a lot more tidier when delivering to your team, on top of all that learning that we have a table of content function that sorts out doc with links to each heading is so awesome. How this DFI course improves my every day personal life, it has shown me that organisation is key, just takes a few minutes to sort yourself out, start at the destination to start your new feature or make your copies.
Our last task we had to do was create a poster in Google Docs. Check out my cool poster.
